Victories in only major cities in last polls, RSP launches party expansion campaign targeting next elections
The newly-emerged Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has already declared ‘Mission 84’ targeting the upcoming major polls, four years away. The party had trounced the major political forces of Nepal in major cities of the Bagmati province in the 2022 major polls.
As the party's stronghold seems to be limited mostly within the youth and the intellect, residing in cities, the party leaders claim they have realised the needs to make inroads in every nook and corner of the country.
As a preparation, the party has been building and expanding its organisations across the country.
Party Joint General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said, "We are preparing to field candidates in all 753 local units and all constituencies in the next elections."
The party's electoral victories in the last polls were only limited to the major cities of Bagmati province---it won 4 seats in Kathmandu, 2 in Chitwan and one seat in Lalitpur under FPTP category. So, the party has been puting its efforts to expand.
Burlakoti added, "The party has organised training in all the provinces to better the electoral prospects."
The RSP won 20 seats from the major elections in 2022, defeating the coaliton candidates of big political parties. Likewise, it bagged seats in two of the three constituencies in the April bypolls. Now, the party is the fourth-largest force in the House of Representatives, having 21 seats.
As a move to make inroads in Madhesh province, party central committee and parliamentary party meeting commenced last Monday.
